Will Market Based Healthcare Survive the Tsunami?

By: Linda Martin, Employee Benefits

In January, KPD sponsored a seminar on Health Care Reform with keynote speakers Ken Provencher, President and CEO of PacificSource Health Plans and Jack Friedman, CEO of Providence Health Plans.

Mr. Friedman spoke on the rising cost of health care, provider Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement reductions and the cost shifting for these unpaid/underpaid services to employer paid commercial plans.  He suggests that health care might be the next bubble to burst, questions the new Oregon Health Authority's recommendation to tax providers and insurers, then states that it will take real sacrifice from everyone for meaningful change to occur.  His presentation had incredible insight. We encourage you to click on this link and look over his slides on "Will Market-Based Healthcare Survive The Tsunami?"

Updates and New Features

Incident Track has undergone a few changes! When you create or modify incidents, you'll notice that adding additional info is easier than before. Whether you want to add expenses, witnesses, responders, investigations, attachments, or at-risk behaviors, all you have to do is click the add button in the appropriate section. There's also additional time-recording capabilities. This allows for greater flexibility when creating or editing incidents. Incident IDs are also customizable now, so you can assign any kind of number you like to any given incident.

We're also working on a new version of COI Track. This is an upgrade to our Risk Solutions platform.

Remember that Risk Solutions is provided as a benefit to our clients.  If you have features you'd like to see added, please let us know! Contact Diana Burnette at dianab@kpdinsurance.com if you'd like to suggest anything.

Employer Compliance Alerts

OSHA 300 Reminder
State and Federal OSHA programs require the OSHA 300 logs to be posted from February 1st to April 30th each year. You  can use Incident Track in Risk Solutions to file your incidents and then easily print your logs to stay in compliance.  If you need help, there are training webinars to learn more on how to use Incident Track’s OSHA reporting and many other features of Risk Solutions.
