KPD History

KPD was founded in 1979 by Ike Kingrey and Gordon Price, two entrepreneurs seeking independence from a major national insurance broker. Armed only with the insurance skills honed from their years with the national broker and a large northwest insurer, Kingrey and Price set up shop in small quarters in downtown Springfield, Oregon. Utilizing an office staff of four including their wives, Ike and Gordon began to write commercial insurance for businesses in the southern Willamette Valley.

In 1982, the Agency outgrew its downtown location and moved to the Gateway district of Springfield. Stan Duyck, also from a national broker, joined the team and Kingrey, Price and Duyck Insurance became the Agency's new name. Through incorporation, we became known as KPD Insurance, the name you recognize today.

As the growth and culture of KPD were observed, other successful agents and staff joined the firm. By the mid 1990's the Agency had once again outgrown its office space and in 1996 moved around the corner to the present spacious location. 1999 saw the opening of the Medford office, which added a new dimension of growth and service for the clients of the professional KPD team in that location.

Over the years the focus of the Agency expanded, adding workers' compensation, employee benefits, life and financial services coverages to the commercial insurance and bonds that were the cornerstone products in the early years. Personal and family insurance services were also added.

Stan Duyck and Gordon Price have since retired, but the "Kandu" spirit the original partners fostered lives on in our commitment to get the job done for our clients.
